First Oakville Toastmasters Hosts Free Public Speaking Workshop Series

First Oakville Toastmasters is pleased to host an engaging Toastmasters Communication Workshop for residents of the Oakville community. This special condensed workshop is specifically designed to give non-Toastmasters experience and confidence in public speaking. The workshop series begins Thursday, February 25 at 7:30 pm on Zoom. By attending a 2-hour workshop every week for 6 weeks (ending April 1), participants will receive:

  • Mentoring from experienced Toastmasters

  • Practice and feedback

  • Workbook and access to materials

  • Supportive environment

  • Lessons in how to best communicate your message

  • A certificate of completion

First Oakville is offering all of this free of charge! A nominal material fee of $15 will apply for workbooks. Participants will complete projects that are outlined in the books. Each participant will be mentored during the program, giving each person one-on-one support from an experienced Toastmaster.

Participants will learn the basics of public speaking, including:

  • How to organize your speech to convey your message

  • How to use your body language to support your message

  • How to use your voice to support your message

  • How to avoid the use of filler words and sounds so your presentation will flow smoothly

First Oakville Toastmasters has been offering education in these speaking and leadership skills for more than 62 years, helping generations of local people grow in their professional and personal lives. The Communication Workshop gives people the chance to learn these skills in an engaging, fun, short course. We look forward to helping many Oakville residents achieve their best.
